1. Universal Setup Logic

Each recipe uses the same operating skeleton. The specific scene changes the priority, but the control order remains consistent.

Confirm Cine EI and S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3.
Choose frame rate and normal shutter.
Choose aperture for the scene and focus reliability.
Choose Base ISO based on available or controllable light.
Use ND to place exposure after shutter/aperture are correct.
Set and lock white balance under the actual key light.
Set monitoring LUT and verify Internal Rec MLUT status.
Check exposure with waveform and zebras.
Check focus with magnifier/peaking/near-eye rule.
Confirm audio through the external Audio Field Setup Guide.
Record and play back a 10-second test before serious takes.

2. Universal Stop Conditions

Stop if...	Corrective action
Audio not verified through the external guide.	Stop and perform the external audio routing/meter/headphone checklist.
Focus not checked on critical subject/near eye.	Use magnifier/peaking/AF check and recheck after movement or zoom.
Waveform/zebras not checked.	Do not rely on LCD brightness; confirm exposure truth.
Internal Rec MLUT status not verified.	Confirm whether you are recording log or deliberately baking LUT.
White balance is drifting or uncertain.	Disable ATW for controlled work; lock A/B/Preset under key light.
Card/reel identity not logged.	Log project, reel/card ID, and starting clip before proceeding.
No 10-second test playback before important work.	Record and review a technical test.

3. Recipe: One-Person Actor Reel - Indoor

Decision area	Recipe action
Primary objective	Sell performance clearly. The look must support the actor.
Camera setup	Use Indoor Cine EI card; record S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3; normal 24p shutter.
Base ISO	Prefer 800 when key light can be controlled. Use 12800 only when light cannot reasonably be added.
Aperture / focus	Close-up f/2.8-f/4 if focus is reliable; near eye is priority; recheck after reframing.
Lighting	Readable face, eye detail, restrained background. Negative fill for shape if the room is flat.
Palette	Mute background and wardrobe without deadening skin.
LUT	Monitor LUT On if useful; Internal Rec MLUT Off by default.
Audio	External Audio Field Setup Guide controls all wiring/routing/testing.
Test	Record/review 10-second technical test for face, eyes, focus, audio, and log/LUT state.

4. Recipe: Two-Person Dialogue or Interview

Decision area	Recipe action
Primary objective	Both people must cut together and remain intelligible.
Camera setup	Choose Indoor or Outdoor Cine EI card based on location; normal shutter; WB locked for continuity.
Aperture / depth	Use enough depth for two subjects and movement; f/4-f/5.6 is often safer than wide-open.
Coverage	Match contrast, color direction, background brightness, and lens choices across angles.
Lighting style	Feature dialogue: motivated source and continuity. Documentary interview: clean face, speed, credibility.
Focus	Check both planes and decide whether Face/Eye AF, Push AF, or manual is safer.
Audio	Use external guide; two-speaker audio failure ruins the scene faster than mild image imperfection.
Test	TX/person channel test if using two lavs; playback check before the real take.

5. Recipe: Exterior Muted-Cinematic Dialogue

Decision area	Recipe action
Primary objective	Clean faces and controlled highlights in natural exterior light.
Base ISO	Base ISO 800 for normal daylight/open shade.
Shutter	Keep 24p = 1/48 or 180 degrees unless stylized motion is intentional.
ND	Use Variable ND to hold chosen aperture; do not raise shutter just because the scene is bright.
Light strategy	Choose shade, negative fill, controlled background, or sun angle before fighting bad light.
WB	Custom WB or fixed daylight strategy based on continuity needs. Avoid ATW for controlled work.
Exposure tools	Balance face and highlights with waveform/zebras; do not judge by LCD alone.
Audio/wind	External audio guide controls wind plan, mic placement, routing, and monitoring.

6. Recipe: Documentary Sit-Down

Decision area	Recipe action
Primary objective	Credible person, clean speech, controlled background, fast safe setup.
Camera setup	Use Indoor/Outdoor card as location dictates. Record clean S-Log3; monitoring LUT for normal viewing.
Lighting	Clean face first. Background second. Style third.
Background	Remove clutter, tame bright color, control practicals, separate subject from wall.
Focus	Stable face/eye focus; avoid hunting during emotional answers.
WB	Lock under actual interview key/face light.
Audio	Treat as mission-critical; external guide is authority.
Logging	Use project/reel/clip log so interview selects survive post.

7. Recipe: Documentary Run-and-Gun

Decision area	Recipe action
Primary objective	Reliability and truthfulness under time pressure.
Exposure approach	Protect face and highlights; use waveform/zebras whenever possible.
Auto ND	Use only when speed requires it; understand when control has been surrendered.
WB	Use fixed daylight/preset or practical compromise when custom WB is too slow, but avoid random drift when possible.
Focus	Use Face/Eye AF, Push AF, or manual deliberately. Do not let the camera hunt through a moment.
Look	Do not force stylization. Credible image beats fake muted look.
Audio	Stop if audio is unverified; documentary moments cannot be recreated.
Media	Keep reel/card identity simple and logged under pressure.

8. Recipe: Offload / Import / Proxy / Archive

Stage	Recipe action
Before offload	Confirm reel/card ID, project folder, enough drive space, and two-backup plan.
Copy	Copy full card folder structure. Do not dump loose MXF files into a flat folder.
Verify	Check copy completion, folder structure, file count/size where possible, and playback of sample clips.
Second backup	Make a second independent backup before formatting media.
Log	Record reel, physical card ID, clip ranges, backup status, and notes.
Import	Import full reel folders into Resolve/Premiere; build organized bins.
Audio inspection	Inspect left/right/split channels before cutting or syncing.
Proxy	Create proxies if needed; track which clips have proxies.
Archive	Preserve originals, audio originals, project files, exports, logs, LUT/settings notes, and final deliverables.

10. Troubleshooting Crosswalk

Problem	First move
Image looks flat	Check LUT/MLUT monitoring. Confirm whether FX6 is sending a LUT to the display.
Image looks baked/overcooked	Check double-LUT and Internal Rec MLUT status.
Image too dark/muddy	Check waveform, Base ISO, ND, aperture, and lighting. Do not simply change monitor brightness.
Skin/eyes disappear	Expose and light the face cleanly; do not underexpose for mood.
Exterior too bright	Use ND after correct shutter/aperture; do not raise shutter casually.
White balance shifts	Avoid ATW; lock WB under actual key light.
Audio issue	Stop and use the external FX6 Audio Field Setup Guide.
Media confusion	Use reel/card/project ID; preserve full card structure.
